The Ultimate Backpacking Gear List

Arc'teryx Spear 25 Daypack

The Ultimate Backpacking Gear List was so much fun to put together! Our team has so much passion and experience in this genre of outdoors activity that we barely had to research anything. For the list, we tried not to have more than one item for each backpacking ‘need’, We simply brought together what we think is the best gear out there. There are a lot of descriptors down there, but anyone who knows backpacking, knows you want three things in an item you choose to take with you. You want it light, because when you’re slogging up that tenth incline of the day, you feel every ounce of weight on your back. You want it dependable, because it MUST work while you’re twenty miles from the nearest road. And you want it versatile, because the more uses a thing has, the less things you need to pack. With these three things in mind, we created the Ultimate Backpacking Gear List.
